Bangladesh’s ambitious milestone of 3,000 MW rooftop solar by 2025 is not just a government target-it’s the legacy of our rural pioneers who first embraced solar power as far back as 1996, transforming village life by bringing light, hope, and opportunity where the grid could not reach . Now, what started with small steps in unconnected communities will be scaled up and fulfilled by the collective leadership of the private sector, government, NGOs, and development partners.
The recent high-level Roundtable by Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA) in collaboration with ActionAid Bangladesh ActionAid Bangladesh, is setting the course for accessible finance and innovative collaboration to unlock this milestone, making Bangladesh a global solar pioneer and fulfilling our green, eco-friendly potential .
From the first solar home systems for deprived rural families to today’s vision for rooftop solar across government offices, hospitals, schools, and beyond, every stakeholder-whether in policy, finance, or community action-has a role in shaping a just transition to renewable energy . The journey started with ordinary people. By 2025, our united efforts will make Bangladesh a beacon of sustainability and inclusive progress.
